Why and how I teach

Hi and thanks for taking the time to visit my site!

I’m Christina, a Wimbledon Park, London based pilates teacher who believes passionately in the life changing impact that the practice can have on our bodies and minds. Pilates builds full body strength and endurance, flexibility, mobility and balance; protects, supports and helps recover our bodies from injury; helps calm, focus and work our cognitive function, aids with cardiovascular health - and on top of this is an absolute joy! Having come from a long career in PR, I understand the impact that stress and long hours has on our body and minds. And so I think holistically, ensuring that we discuss all aspects of exercise and diet. And yes I do drink wine and eat sweet treats!

I love teaching women and men of every age, but as a woman in her mid life with two children, a very active runner and cyclist, and who was diagnosed with a prolapse in her late ‘40s (and like most hadn’t heard of this, didn’t know what it was, nor how common it is for all women - 1 in 3 mothers and 1 in 10 of all women over 50), I am evangelical about the tangible impact practicing pilates has for:

  • Women’s bodies postnatally, during perimenopause and menopause
  • Female and male runners and cyclists of all ages.
  • Men and women in their freeing senior years keen to keep strong and active.
  • Improving everyone’s strength, posture and mobility by lengthening the spine and building a powerful strong core.

My teaching style is friendly, motivational, empowering and supportive - focussed on your needs and goals. I teach with empathy and passion and will encourage you to challenge and push your body - I guarantee you’ll notice the impact quickly in how you feel, how you move and how you carry yourself. Pilates can transform your body, but it is also functional for everyday movement, strength and balance where you are now and as you age. Developing an understanding of diaphragmatic breathing and how the pelvic floor, the diaphragm and the transversus abdominus work together will also have a life changing impact on your body.

My style of group mat teaching is inclusive, energetic, fun and designed as a flow - moving you dynamically and seamlessly through the exercises, working the entire body and every muscle - but as with 1.1 always emphasising the need to prioritise proper form and technique to ensure you are working the muscles effectively, safety - and most importantly to deliver tangible results for your body!
